Ciyo's Jazz Guitar Collective featuring Jim Mullen

From early beginnings having first been taught to play the guitar at the age of nine by his father, Ciyo has participated musically in theatrical, studio recordings and live performances alongside a parade of internationally acclaimed artists. Ciyo has toured with Courtney Pine, Byron Wallen, Ronnie Laws, Billy Paul, Jean Toussaint, Maxi Priest, Beres Hammond, Horace Andy, Cleveland Watkiss, Steel Pulse and a host of others. He counts quality time spent with George Benson as amongst his most inspiring experiences to date.
Jim Mullen is one of the finest jazz guitarists in the UK with an International reputation that keeps his diary full whenever top US jazz stars ranging from Gene Harris to Jimmy Smith, Mose Allison and Terry Callier are touring in the UK and Europe. Jim started out in the late 60's and early 70's, playing and recording with rock bands including Pete Brown's Piblokto, Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, Vinegar Joe and Robert Palmer.

Newton's recording career had begun in 1985 with Buddy De Franco and Martin Taylor and his first solo album was released in '88 in association with producer Elliot Meadow who oversaw the next nine years of recording for Linn Records followed by Candid Records. By 2003, Newton had learned a great deal of the ways a record company operated and he set up a business partnership with former pupil Mike Daymond and they established "Brightnewday Records" initially as a vehicle for Newton's own music but with an eye to opening up the catalogue to other artists later on.

Consisting of 4 wonderful individual singers who magically interact creating some amazing harmonies, Renato met Matisse on FB and after listening to a video on Youtube, invited them at Ronnie Scott’s bar during one of his regular Monday nights and it was love at first sight plus a great success. The idea is to explore the interaction between Renato’s jazz solos and Matisse on the amazing melodies and harmonies of Stevie Wonder’s compositions wich are a wonderful and inspiring territory for improvising.
